The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) said on Wednesday that Jammu- Amarnath Yatra will be suspended till August 4 due to heavy rain forecast in Kashmir in the next few days. A spokesman for SASB said, "In view of bad weather, falling stones and landslide, especially in Jammu region, the journey will remain suspended till 4 August 2019."

He informed that the Indian Meteorological Department has projected heavy rains for the next few days in Jammu and Kashmir, which could cause landslides between the Jammu and Srinagar National Highways, especially Ramban and Banihal and the stone could collapse. The spokesman said that due to heavy rains recently, the path from Baltal to Pahalgam has become slippery and situation can worsen in the coming days.

Officials said that the trip was suspended on Wednesday as a precautionary step to avoid any unpleasant event.
