Honor 9 Lite Review, Honor 9 Lite Review

It is very difficult to find a smartphone with a good camera in the budget segment. Most companies in this segment try to give better processors, more RAM and storage, so that the eyes of customers can easily go to that phone. However, in the recent times there have been some such budget smartphones which claim to be equipped with good cameras. One of them is the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 handset of Xiaomi's new Y series. However, this phone did not impress us much in the review.

Now Huawei's Honor brand has tried to give customers a more powerful option by introducing the Honor 9 Lite . Explain that this is an affordable handset that comes with four cameras. This is not the first four-camera smartphone of the company, through the Honor 9i the company tried something similar. However, this time the company has kept a new option for the larger market by keeping the price of Honor 9 Lite at Rs 10,999. The specialty of Honor 9 Lite is not just limited to the camera, its specifications are also worth noting. At first glance, this phone left a positive impression. Now it remains to be seen whether Honor 9 Lite can redefine the budget segment in terms of performance.

Honor 9 Lite Design and Design

Honor 9 Lite to a great extent Reminds me of Honor 8 . It was the company's first flagship smartphone in 2016. The 2.5D curved glass gives the rear end a mirror feel. However, it has been clarified on Honor's website that this effect is limited to only the Sapphire Blue and Glacier Gray variants. No such effect will be found in Midnight Black. It is very similar to the Moto X4. The display also has curved glass. For this reason, the grip of the phone becomes good. By the way, this feature is also a drawback. The phone slips easily in the hands and fingerprints also fall on it. The frame is plastic. This has been done to keep the price down. Because of this the phone becomes light and many times you will feel that the phone is not in your pocket.

According to our wish the sim tray should also have the color of the rest of the body of the phone. Due to this, it looks different. Apart from that we have no complaints about the build quality and finish. The volume and power buttons are plastic. , But their response is good. SIM tray is hybrid. That is, you can use a microSD card up to 256 GB with two nano SIM cards, or one SIM card at a time. 3.5mm headphone socket and micro-USB port on the phone. At the bottom. That's where the speaker grille is also found. Once again Honor is disappointed to not use the USB Type-C port. It seems that the company Ardveyr feature wants to limit to just expensive phones.

Honor display 9 lights we liked very well. You will get a full-HD + IPS panel. The screen is 5.65 inches and its aspect ratio is 18: 9. This type of display is in trend now. Due to the long display, the edges have become extremely thin, which increases the beauty of the phone. Despite this, there is room for a selfie camera above the screen on the front panel and for the company's logo on the lower part. The brightness of the panel is adequate and the color reproduction is also good. It is not easy to reach every edge of the long display with fingers of one hand, but there are many gestures to help you. For example, you can open the notification shade by swiping down the fingerprint sensor. There's also a navigation dock, similar to iOS's Assistive Touch. One-handed mode will also be found.

Honor 9 Lite has a circular fingerprint sensor on the back. It quickly detects fingerprints. Apart from unlocking the screen, you can keep the apps safe using the fingerprint sensor and make virtual safe for private files. This sensor can be used for different types of gestures, such as taking a photo, taking a phone call or browsing a photo. These gestures will work with any finger. In the retail box you will find charger, data cable, SIM ejector tool. The phone does not come with a headset.

Honor 9 Lite specifications and features

Despite keeping the price low, Honor has not compromised the specification of the 9 Lite. There are many specifications of Honor 7X and Honor 9i which are expensive in comparison. The phone has used its own Octa-core Kirin 659 processor. There are two variants of phones based on RAM and storage. One of them is 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. The second one is with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, which we have reviewed. While using the phone, we found that only 2 GB RAM works throughout the day. You will get 2 GB free all the time. Other specifications include FM radio, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi B / G / N, 4G VoLTE, USB OTG, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer and gyroscope.

Interestingly, Honor 9 Lite has benchmarked The test gave much better results than the Honor 7X and Honor 9i.

by Honor Recently Like the launched Honor View 10, the Honor 9 Lite also runs on the out-of-box Android 8.0 Oreo. By the way, the company's skin above the latest version of Android is the EMUI 8. It features the Huawei Share name, which is Apple's AirDrop Works like technology.

The Wi-Fi + feature automatically switches between Wi-Fi and mobile data. This will depend on the state of the connection. When we restarted our router I posted the Wi-Fi + feature of this phone was working. It was trying to detect features that mobile data and who in Wi-Fi which Internet connection is strong. Finally after testing it connected the phone to Wi-Fi.

The settings app has a good design. You can make backups of contacts, calendar, Wi-Fi credentials, SMS messages and call logs. However, it is not yet clear how much storage you will get for free. You will not be able to backup data from third party apps.

Honor 9 Lite Performance, Camera and Battery Life

Honor EMUI running Android Oreo works well. But this stock is not as fast as Android. EMUI is quite different from Google's Material Design Language. But it is good looking and effective too. Despite having 4 GB RAM, the phone slowed down a bit during the search in the Settings app. However, we did not receive this complaint repeatedly.

The touch response of the display is good. We also have no complaints about call quality. The processor is fully capable of keeping the multitasking experience good. There was no problem playing easy games. However, framerates fell in games with powerful graphics like Asphalt 8. This phone heats up easily. For example, upon downloading the app from the Play Store and listening to songs with it, the upper part of Honor 9 Lite got slightly warmer.

In 1080p video resolution video playback the phone ran very smooth. It also allows high resolution videos easily In the default video player, you have the option to stretch the video screen.

Now talk about the most important feature of this phone of Honor. The primary camera is 13 megapixels on both the parts of Honor 9 Lite. There is also a 2 megapixel depth sensor on both the parts. With the help of this Bokeh The effect can be achieved. For this, you have to choose one of the portrait or wide aperture mode in the camera app.

Photos taken in daylight look good on the handset display . Autofocus is fast and come clean detail view in landscape mode. However, the colors are a bit dull. When zooming in the photos, noises are seen in the dark parts. In low light, the performance of Honor 9 Lite shows the same decrease that is in the rest of the smartphones in this price range. Focus slows down. The details are not clear. Especially the edges become sharper.

With the help of wide aperture mode, you get an aperture value of (F / 0.95 – F / 13), which allows you to adjust the depth of field before and after taking a photo. However, in our investigation, the blur effect did not appear to be very effective, the blurred picture with F / 2.0 aperture value looked like Photoshop. Similarly, it also offers portrait mode, which works just like that. While taking photos, you will not be able to apply the blur effect. Also it has a toggle of bokeh but it is not very effective, because the photos already with bokeh effect. Come. The Bokeh effect is much better than the wide aperture mode but the edges of the subject don't seem to be defined many times. Along with this, it also takes a lot of time to focus.

For photography enthusiasts, it has given shooting modes like professional and panorama. Features like filters and HDR have also been added to the phone. With this, the phone will recognize your smile with 'Touch Capture' and your picture will automatically click.

Talking of video recording, you will be able to record videos up to 1080 pixels. The video is a very mediocre record. Since it does not have the feature of image stabilization, the video is recorded moving. Photos taken in low light are not very clear. The selfie taken from the front camera is better quality. Beauty mode along with screen flash is attractive and you will be able to take good pictures even in low light. From the front camera, you will be able to record videos up to 1080 pixels. If you have turned on beauty mode, then the video quality will be 720 pixels maximum.

There are also some gesture modes for selfie. You will be able to use your palm or take a selfie with your voice. Apart from this, if you speak 'thing' loudly with the phone in hand, then the gesture sensor will click your picture. Talking about portrait mode, the front camera is also of better quality.

Now talk of battery. Actually, in terms of battery, Honor's previous smartphones 7X and 9i were not able to show anything amazing despite the large size battery. In our video loop test, 9 Lite played 10 hours 3 minutes of non-stop HD video, which cannot be said to be very good.

We found that asphalt 8 used in the battery for 5 minutes, 5 Is declining by 10 percent, which may be a concern. There is no feature like fast charging in the smartphone. The 10 watt charge coming with the phone takes an hour to charge 60 percent of the battery. In order to reduce power consumption, the user is given the option to turn on / off HD Plus screen resolution.

 Our verdict
18: 9 aspect ratio if price Also to add, the cheaper variant of Honor 9 Lite is currently the best option in the market. The price of this variant is Rs 11,000. One thing to note is that currently <a href= Honor 7X is also in the market, which may not have an additional camera but a metal body, bigger screen and larger battery than expected.

The variant with 4 GB RAM that we investigated is a bit expensive according to its specification. The phone looks good but the battery power and camera quality are not very good. Phones like Xiaomi Mi A1 ( Review ) and Moto G5S Plus ( Review ) already exist in the market in the range of Rs 15,000 . These phones may not have a long screen, which is in trend nowadays, but in terms of performance, Honor 9 Lite is more powerful than it is.

If you are not in a hurry then recently launched in China Xiaomi can wait for the Redmi 5 Plus to come to India, which will probably cost around the Honor 9 Lite. <! –
