Reliance Jio says it will increase mobile phone tariffs in next few weeks

Talking to customers of Reliance Jio will become expensive in the coming days. Jio has said today that it will increase the rates of mobile services in the next few weeks. The statement from the company came a day after Vodafone-Idea and Airtel have asked to increase the tariff from 1 December.

Vodafone-Idea or Airtel mobile companies announced on Monday that from December 1, 2019, it would cost more to talk on mobile. In view of the financial crisis, Vodafone-Idea and Airtel have decided to increase the rates of mobile service from December 1. However, the two companies have not yet provided information regarding the proposed increase in fees.

The reason for this will not be the elimination of the call adding fee (IUC) fee. The Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI) is expected to give its opinion on the disputed issue by the end of this month. It is believed that this fee will continue due to opposition from Voda-Idea and Airtel. At the same time, Reliance Jio had said that if the date of termination of IUC is extended beyond January 1, it will end the round of free voice calls and may increase the tariff rates.

Significantly, Vodafone-Idea has a consolidated loss of Rs 50,922 crore in the second quarter of the current financial year. This is the largest loss by an Indian company in a quarter. Airtel reported a loss of Rs 23,045 crore in the second quarter of the current financial year.

Reliance became the first company in the country with a capital of Rs 9.5 lakh crore
